Settle Terms of Service
Effective date: 1 November 2026
These Terms are the rules for using Settle's Telegram bot and web dashboard (the "Service"). Settle is run from Singapore by Manish Balasubramanian (UEN pending), a business registered with ACRA ("Settle", "we", "us"). You can reach us at support@settlenotes.com. If you need a postal address for a legal notice, email us and we will give you one.
1. Accepting these Terms
Settle does not create your account, and does not take a payment, until you have accepted these Terms and read the Privacy Notice. In Telegram you accept by tapping "I agree and continue". On the website you accept on the "One quick step" page. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Settle is made for students aged 15 and older. If you are 15 to 17, you can use the free plan on your own as long as you understand these Terms and the Privacy Notice. If you are not sure you do, ask a parent or guardian to read them with you first. Paying for Pro when you are under 18 has extra rules, set out in section 10.
2. What Settle does
Settle helps students turn messages and study material into tasks, deadlines, checklists, flashcards, math explanations and review reminders. It uses automated systems and AI, so results can be incomplete or wrong. Check deadlines, answers and study advice against your original material and your school's instructions. Settle does not promise any grade or result, that a deadline is right, or that the Service is always available.
Keep your own copy of anything important. We may change, pause or stop features, and outages or data loss can happen.
3. Your account and what you send
Use your own Telegram account and keep it secure. Tell us at support@settlenotes.com if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens through your account, as far as the law allows.
Only send material you are allowed to share and use. Screenshots and documents often show other people, such as classmates and teachers. Do not send more of other people's personal information than Settle needs to do what you asked.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use Settle to break the law, harass or threaten anyone, break someone else's rights, share someone's private information without permission, get around security, disrupt the Service, or upload harmful code. We may limit or suspend access if we reasonably believe use is abusive, unlawful or unsafe, or puts Settle or another person at risk. Where it makes sense, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
5. Your material and our rights
You keep ownership of what you send. You give Settle a limited, non-exclusive permission to receive, store, read, transcribe, analyse and process it, and to create and show you results, only as needed to run and protect the Service. That includes using the service providers named in the Privacy Notice.
Settle does not train or fine-tune AI models on what you send. Settle does not use your material for anything beyond running the Service for you. If that ever changes, we will ask for your separate, optional consent first, and you can keep using the core Service without giving it.
Settle and the people who license it to us own the Service, its software and its branding. These Terms do not give you ownership of them.
6. Plans, payments and refunds
Settle has a free plan and a paid Pro plan. Pro costs S$7.99 a month or S$63.99 a year on the web, or 600 Telegram Stars for each 30 day period in Telegram. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay, and prices include any tax that applies. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
You can cancel a web subscription from the billing page in the dashboard, which opens Stripe's customer portal, or on Link's website (link.com). You can cancel a Telegram Stars subscription in Telegram's subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not refund the period you have already paid for, and you keep Pro until that period ends.
Your first payment can be refunded if you ask within seven days of the first charge. Later renewal payments are not refundable, unless the law says otherwise. Because Stripe is the seller of record for web payments, Stripe may also issue a refund itself within 60 days in some cases, and its support team handles payment questions through Link. The details are on the Payments, Cancellation and Refunds page.
7. Closing or suspending an account
You can stop using Settle at any time, and ask us to close your account by emailing support@settlenotes.com. We handle your data as the Privacy Notice describes. We may suspend or end access for a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, a security risk, a payment that fails, or a legal requirement.
8. Limits on what we are responsible for
As far as the law allows, Settle is provided "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, free of errors or right for every purpose.
Nothing in these Terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Apart from that, and as far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or knock-on loss from using the Service. Our total responsibility to you for claims about the Service is limited to the larger of the amount you paid Settle in the 12 months before the claim and S$100. We think this is fair because the Service is low cost, has a free plan, and is a study aid that you are asked to double check.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these Terms. For important changes we will tell you in the Service or another reasonable way, and ask you to accept again. Singapore law governs these Terms, and the courts of Singapore can hear disputes, but this does not take away any right you have by law where you live.
10. If you are under 18
In plain words:
- You must be 15 or older to use Settle.
- If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read and agree to these Terms, and agree to the payment, before you subscribe to Pro. When you subscribe, you are telling us that they have.
- The person whose card or payment account pays for Pro agrees to these Terms for that payment and is responsible for it. If a parent or guardian lets you use their card or payment account, that is their agreement too.
- If you are under 18 and you sign up or pay without a parent or guardian reading and agreeing to these Terms, then you, and the parent or guardian whose payment method you used, are responsible for that payment, as far as the law allows.
